a Dragon's reQuest! Available for free, here: https://www.patreon.com/Saintbomber Yo! Saint Bomber here. I thought I'd make a simple "Fight the Demon King" RPG, but it turns out I have a problem. Stories have a tendency to complicate as I write them, and the gameplay isn't always very intuitive in the occasionally intentional way. So here's a guide! Mild to severe spoilers follow. [Missable] means that this is only available for a limited amount of game time. Most have fiats that can cover for them, but not all. You can press x, or Cancel on the original questions if you want to skip the intro. You do have to be over 18, though. Don't think you can escape. Cypress [Missable]The top right mouse-hole has a switch in it (click it twice) that opens a debug room. You can use this to get gold, levels and bottled monsters without being labeled a cheater for life. The option to open it closes after act 3. Search the object around the castle to equip yourself. Nearly everything in Cypress is clickable. Get used to this. Don't forget to pick up the book on Hinoki's table. Stand next to Captain Spatha to take guard shifts. Guard shift secrets: Say your having a good time to have MORE GOOD TIMES. Take out the slime first to witness spider ingenuity. Offer to take out Captain Spatha for an early challenge boss-fight! She'll eventually come to her senses if you just defend. [Missable]Once you have done 2 guard shift fights, the soldier from Ost Oros will teach you a new move. Head North to Corundum! Check the towns and houses along the way to tax your citizenry! What's the point of being the head of a monarchical government if you can't bilk the populace a little right? [Important] Towns have different information before and after you tax them. Asking around before you tax them is the only way to trigger some events, especially when they have an exclamation point over them. There is a hidden town in the forest directly west of the fire-tower. Asking around at the little farm-house will reveal another hidden town. Visit Castle Corundum, then head east to the checkpoint. [Missable] At the checkpoint, if you walk left and up, there is a treasure-chest that is only available during this one event. Back at Cypress, Your next goal is to get the Legendary Sword and Shield back. The order doesn't matter, but the sword is closer. [Missable] Talk to JJ and the Harpy once you have Garnet in the party. You have the option to release her. Doing so makes the boss fight harder, but leads to more rewards later. Sword Shrine: The sword shrine is directly east of cypress. There is a hidden passage in a bubbling water-pool near the dead gargoyles. It gets you to a button that unlocks the prison door containing a wisp. The Wisp gives Fluorine a powerful buff skill. There are two ways to fight Larceny. Hitting her straight on gives you a better sword drop, but the fight is tougher. Sneaking up behind her is funnier, probably. Once you've beat Larceny, read the Grimoire of Lightning in your backpack. (it's still in Hinoki's room if you didn't pick it up) Highwind Lighthouse: The Highwind Lighthouse is in the north-west corner of Cypress. With Garnet in your party, you can get the Grimoire of Earth and Stone here. It should be jumping up and down and yelling at you with an icon. NEARLY ALL the statues have things in them. This dungeon tells you why. [Secret] Jumping off the ladder from the second-to-last story of this tower will open up a secret basement. Falling from stuff is cool. Try it! (but don't try this at home, kids. Leave insane stunts to the fictional characters. They are trained professionals.) There's a skill for Fluorine down there, and a powerful Firedancer's Chain when you climb back up. ---Spell of Confinement 2.0--- Once you have the Legendary Sword/Shield, stop in at Corundum and Garnet will spell out your next (expensive) quest. Don't forget to sneak into Garnet's Parents' room to steal their Yes/No pillow. It's a powerful item that lets you change the encounter rate, as well as how much you want to see adult content. Build a Bridge to the island by consulting the town in central Cypress. Tax the Mystics(and get ready for a boss fight), then visit the green tower. Sneak into the back yard of the tower for a new skill for Fluorine. Dwarf Cave: Fire off all the carts with the lever, then go behind where they were to get a secret treasure. Walk the tracks to find another one, and the Great Earth Spirit, who is basically just slumming it. Once the cave is partially thawed, you can climb a wall section near the door to sneak into the dwarven throne room to steal some stuff. There are no consequences for this because stealing stuff is totally cool. (Note: Stealing stuff is NOT totally cool.) There's another section of wall next to the dragon statue that can also be climbed to get to a SECRET AREA that has a powerful skill for Fluorine. Head right down the cart tracks to continue. Sleep in the dwarven deviants' bed for some quality time with Garnet. Go back to Corundum to complete Garnet's new Spell of Confinement 2.0, and try to use it in every battle. Capture as many monsters as you can. You're going to want at least 5 of each kind. Start releasing the captured monsters in the monster villages you find around the map. Once you release 5, a secret area will open up in each one, revealing the way to a treasure. You'll need those treasures later if you want all the endings. Note that the Gotta-Confine-'em-all subquest can be completed at any time in the game without issue, but the items you get for it are powerful, and can help out considerably in battle. --------Act 2------------ Visit the Casino for some good times and loan some money to the pirate queen once your luck runs dry for a Special Shield that will be important later. [Missable] Once you're in Ost Oros, go to Homely's Tomb, just north of the first town you come across. You won't be able to do this event if you get your next party member first. Solve the slip and slide puzzles on your own, or wait for someone to make a guide for it. Make sure to investigate the flower in the center of the 2nd level, as it opens up the Faerie Village, and unlocks a skill for Fluorine. Save yourself some time and unlock the short-cut from the 3rd floor before taking the slip-and-slide up into the shrine area. Homely's Tomb has a LOT of missable stuff to do, but here are the highlights. Fluorine: >Find a pick-axe and spend some time making holes in walls bigger with Fluorine for a Special encounter AND a new Fluorine Skill. >Use the pick-axe on rocks and vases. --Make sure to use it on the rock next to the monolith in the South East area. There is a CR token there that you will need later. >Use driftwood in the NE area to make furniture. As much as you can. >Harvest mushrooms (And a rat) to make a nutritious stew. Garnet: >Open the Monolith for a powerful magic staff. >Study at the table Fluorine makes for a new spell. >Bathe regularly, you stinky princess. >Place the cool magic staff you got in the NW area monolith as soon as possible. As long as it is in there, you can grow Force Carrots. But it takes time. They'll still grow as long as the Staff is in there, even if you leave the dungeon. >Harvest POISONOUS mushrooms for a wild, wild night. Leave your panties in Hinoki's treasure chest, if you want to leave an impression on her. If you keep Hinoki's health above 70%, she'll get stronger from this traumatic event. If Hinoki's health percentage ends low, her body will atrophy, but her mind will sharpen, making her a better spell-caster. Consider your build options, as a staff-using Hinoki is not a weak wizard. You can use the Magic Mirror as an item to, er, restore Hinoki's MP on the world map. Heh. Once it's all said and done, you can go back through the dungeon to get the Mirror Shield. Visit the Slime Village down there and release some slimes to get their treasure, and an awkward story for future family reunions. Feel free to explore the Abyssfront Lighthouse/Museum, but you can only get so far without bonifides. You'll be coming back here later. Ditto the Volcano. Er, Ice-Cave. Chelisera's Castle/Spider Village [Missable-ish] On your way south after Homely's Tomb, hug the coast-line to get to a VERY ruined tower. Check out the obvious trap to enter into a complicated courtship process with a VERY leggy dame. Avoid if you are arachnophobic. If you do not do this event before getting your next party member, you can still use it as a monster village, but you won't be able to get THE MOST POWERFUL PROTECTIVE ITEMS IN THE GAME later. Big Tree/Faerie Village Pretend you are godzilla to unlock the faerie monolith. Free 5 faeries when you're done and get a tongue-lashing (and a treasure) from the Faerie queen. Spooky Mansion/Ghost Village Visit the Spooky Mansion, release a ghost, and check out a Spooky Painting. Stuff changes. Spookily. Release 5 ghosts and get the Ghost Candle. Ost Oros Front Line Take some time to explore(read:Loot) this place, because it'll change pretty dramatically later. Go back to the Volcano: Head UP into the tower to talk to a familiar face with some saucy ideas, that will unlock a special conversation in the Abyssfront Lighthouse. Head DOWN to Collect Crystal energy in the volcano. Collect a little more than you need for a bonus item. The bonus item can be a cool weapon, an accessory that accelerates TP gain (good for Fluorine or your next party members) or put it back for a SIGNIFICANT bonus to Garnet's Charisma, which will make captures easier and taxes higher. Abyssfront Lighthouse Make sure to talk to the Curator and take the tour, then check out the bookshelf at the forbidden library on the second floor. Once you've exhausted all 3 of Garnet's topics, you can come back here later with your next party member for a VERY powerful grimoire. There is a big obvious puzzle on the 3rd floor you can complete for a snazzy new move for Hinoki. Head to the top floor, but don't jump. Unless you want to, of course. From the top, Fluorine should get you some rope you can use to CLIMB down to the basement. The boss fight down there is nearly impossible to win normally. It's much safer to use the Spell of Confinement for the same result. Good luck. You'll make a friend either way. Once you have the Magma Crystal and the Ocean Crystal, head back to Corundum once more to make the POWER STONE, an accessory that reduces spell costs by 50%. Don't forget to collect your taxes. Monsters can steal it if you leave it too long. Head back to the Front Lines once you're equipped for a BIG DUNGEON. It's a doozy. Make sure to visit the mermaid camp east of the rift first to replace the MP Hinoki lost last night. Pattern recognition is for cowards. There are several ways into the castle. Pick the one (or more) that you like most! (I'm especially fond of combining the Bomb plan with the Massed frontal assault plan. That's good times. Captain Spatha(?) will temporarily join you if you ask. After the boss fight, there is a very special and missable scene you can get if you die between the Warden Boss-fight and picking up your next party member. Once you're done, head out the normal way to watch your new best fighter strut her stuff by rapidly reassigning all of the officers currently assigned to the front, then choose your favorite Prime Minister based on your favorite flavor of comedy! -------Act 3------- Head Back to Cypress! Along the way: >Visit the Harpy Cliffs for a helpful gem you can use at the top of Highwind Tower! >Visit the Mermaids again, because pattern recognition is STILL for cowards! >Ask around the town on the edge of the rift to open up a side-quest for the Legendary Hero's Armor. The fight might be a little hard if you aren't prepared for it. Don't sell the armor yet. >Use the Power Stone to unlock the secret area in the Volcano for some bombshells and a cameo from the hottest hero to ever walk this benighted land. >Take Aura to the Forbidden Library. She'll point out a book Garnet has been avoiding if you've read all there is to read. >Tax everyone! >Visit the Casino for some terrible coping methods. >Stop back in at Corundum to get chewed out, and get an upgrade to Garnet's Spell of Confinement. >Visit the Dwarves again to watch their culture come to an abrupt end, and get a major sidequest. >If you got the Legendary Armor, visit the Vampire in the Dwarven freezer section for another side-quest. Once you do this, then you can sell the Legendary Hero's sword/shield/armor for big bucks and some laughs later. >Hit Highwind Lighthouse for some Harpy on Harpy action. >Visit the little town nestled in the mountains for the next volume of Hinoki's favorite series of Grimoires (assuming you read the first one in your item list) and a nerdy CCG prediction that turned out to be COMPLETELY WRONG within a mere year of writing it! Wow! Once you're safely back at Cypress, Hinoki's relatives visit. Go fight them. [Missable] In the boss-fight, if you defeat Black Catherine First, THEN dispel Aura, she'll learn an important life-lesson and gain a blanket immunity to charm spells. It's a pain, but worth the effort. Aura is a clear and present danger when she's charmed. Make sure to rescue Santa Claus, and pick up the present he drops. Get a ride on their pir- er, smuggler's ship. --ALGONIA-- Note the cave right next to you. Then ignore it and move on. Visit the Hot-Air Balloon dock to start your magical adventure in monster-land. Hit up the sacred mountain next to get side-tracked by a 2-part quest. On the way up, Roll the Cursed Treasure down the center of the staircase to unlock another SECRET! and a skill for Fluorine. [missable] If you end up fighting the guards, use the Spell of COnfinement on the Draconic Crusader to change her form and get a better treasure. (and a view that will stick with Hinoki for the rest of her life) When presented with the choice between 2 cities, do both. Cyclopolis: There is a non-standard game-over you can get by dodging all the pursuers all the way to the giant, then winning a VERY difficult fight. I didn't design it to be reachable with normal methods, but I've heard it's been done, so good luck with that, if you're one of those people who has to see literally everything in the game. [Missable] In Kyouka's head, there's a skill for Fluorine. Get it before you fight the boss. Rifle Princess Krypton's room for a Signet Ring. (If you miss it here, you can pick it up later in the basement of the Basalt Obelisk) Return to the mine and climb down to the lowest level to find a skill for Fluorine beyond a barred gate. Aura hates those barred gates. Lilympus: >Make sure to hit the Buffet. There is a major puzzle here. It's complex. I'm not going to write a guide for it. Maybe someone else will. I'll link it if they do. But the major trip-up is this: Diversity means equal representation in this case. Once you're done, duck back in and go down the stairs to visit Ashe a former hero whose having a bad time. Give him everything you took from the Buffet. He'll take some time to digest it. More on that later. You'll eventually need that expenisve ring in the succubus shop. Save up. Once you've done both Cyclopolis and Lilympus, head back up to Queen Xenon. Make an egg. Equip the Egg. Visit the Pyramid, free some Lamia. Exit through the gift shop. Visit the devil cave, get a cool, if clingy, magic sword. Visit the Dragon Castle, get a dragon scale shield. Head back through the cave entrance you saw when you first arrived in Algonia. Head back through it. Walk all the way around the continent ALL the way back to Black Catherine's cave. Give her a mermaid. Steal her boat. ------ACT 4------- [Missable] Visit the little tent just north of the dark elf cave now that you have a boat. Investigate the shiny thing at the water's edge. You'll need that later. Take the boat to the suspicious bubbling patch just north of Castle Cypress. Get roasted by one of your Great Grandma's old flames. (Not an actual boss-fight) Take the boat ALL THE WAY AROUND to the east to get to a big dangerous area full of glaciers and sharp rocks. Head for the middle. Dive. Save. The boss fight at the bottom features a potential non standard game-over ending. > > > > > If you want to avoid it, use the Spell of Confinement on her. Make your way back up, and you can see last year's April fool's scene in the top left corner of the landing if you want. WARNING: This contains a Canon Event for Quantum Entanglement. Party Hard. Now that you have a boat and Argon, make sure the Dragon Egg is equipped on Hinoki, and head to the little cabin in the snowy area near Lilympus. Get your final party member. ----Act 5---- ---NOW YOU CAN DO ANYTHING YOU WANT--- --EVERYTHING IS SPOILERS FROM HERE ON OUT-- The world is your oyster. Investigate everything. Fight the bubblies around the Abyss of Memory for some water of Doom. Collect Heronium. Hinoki's Mom's Jewelry Box, Highwind Tower Basement, The Basalt Obelisk, The Crystal Tower in the top right of the map, Mimic in the Dwarf Freezer, Mimic in the Devil Cave, Mimic in Deathcinder's Tower(accessed through the vampire), Ask Scylla nicely, Defeat the Great Fire Spirit in the Ice Cave, USE Ashe's Cape, etc. Make your Regalia. Look for Icons. Visit the Casino with Argon. Visit the Spider Queen. Finish up your monster villages. Fight Malphon. Travel Back in Time. Find some Depleted Heronium. Go to Sleep somewhere. Make Black Weapons in your Dreams. Save, then use THEM on Malphon. Travel Back in time. Collect the Skull from the broken pillar in the Long Hallway that should now be accessible. When Malphon gives you the choice, press the CANCEL button. Use the PRECIOUS items in the fight with the Deadly 7. (Avoid using the Endless Corsage while you're doing this) >CR Token >Highwind Tower design notes >Engagement Ring >Cheap Necklace >Signet Ring <-- if you missed this, it can be found in the basement of the Basalt obelisk post-Malphon defeat. >Skull THEN defeat Malphon, either the normal way, or with the Endless Corsage. But by this point, she should be a push-over. Pop over to the Airship dock and purchase the airship, and use it to get across the frozen river east of Malphon's castle to The Great Disaster. There you will find the end of the game.
